Visa launches Olympic prepaid cards

Visa launches prepaid Olympic cardsIn preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games, Visa launched three new prepaid cards bearing the images of popular sporting events.

The cards are being marketed as collectibles and as a way to easily and safely make purchases at the 2010 games, where Visa will be the only card type accepted.

The latest designs feature drawings of athletes figure skating, freestyle skiing or playing ice hockey.

"The designs on our cards celebrate the spirit of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and the challenges they must overcome to be the best in the world," said David Chong, director of Visa marketing and products for Citizens Bank of Canada, in a Canadian Business Online article.

The cards are available in denominations of $25, $50 and $100 and can be found at 1,500 Canada Post locations and at Citizens Bank.
